MONAZA Contracting Company Private Limited was founded in the Maldives in 1978 by Mr. Mohamed Naeem, as a small construction company called Monaza Constructions, with a two story class room block-turnkey contract at Majeedhiya School. It was a break through at that time as there was only one private construction company in existence in Male’. Major construction projects were undertaken by the Government then, as there was no qualified construction company in the Maldives.

During the early years the company had minimal resources and the founder himself had to be at the site to supervise as a Site Engineer or a Forman, as well as source the materials for the project and do the administrative work. There was only one commercial bank, which was “State Bank of India” at that time and was very helpful in providing all financial assistance to the company, thus a pioneering construction company was born.

In 1993, due to the limitations presented to a proprietorship, the company changed to a limited liability company in the name of Monaza Constructions Pvt. Ltd. Since then, Monaza Constructions Pvt. Ltd. has grown into a major Construction Company with over 320 permanent staffs, in addition to the temporary staffs. The company would once again change its name it suit its business ventures. The company was renamed Monaza Contracting Co. Pvt. Ltd.

The company completed numerous turnkey construction projects. To name a few,  a four story - twin office complex  for the Ministry of Finance and Treasury , a 100 bed Regional Hospital for the Health Ministry, four story Administrative office complex at Male international airport for the Ministry of Defense and two hundred bed tourist resort hotel, were among the major projects won in the competitive biding.
